Opportunity to Publish Road Safety Articles

ASIRT, the Association for Safe International Road Travel, publishes a quarterly e-newsletter for its community that includes corporate and education abroad risk managers and administrators, government agencies and officials, humanitarian organizations, and the general public who travel for work, study abroad, and leisure. ASIRT often features guest columnists who write about traveling abroad and their road safety observations, experiences, or tips. Previously published topics include the effect of climate change on international travel, cycling safety, and road safety in specific countries from the tourist or student perspective.

ASIRT invites professionals, including Forum and Pulse members, as well as leisure travelers, to submit ideas for short articles. Examples include takeaways or observations related to road safety from a recent site visit or trip abroad, traveling abroad during seasonal weather conditions, reducing anxiety about transportation options for travelers abroad, or using transportation with a mobility challenge. Guest columnists with all levels of writing experience are welcome. 

Please contact [email protected] with article ideas or questions. ASIRT staff can help authors develop ideas and/or can provide prompts for topic development. Once ideas are accepted, please follow the Article Guidelines below to complete submissions. 

Article Guidelines 

• Draft articles should not exceed 900 words in length. 

• The opening paragraph of approximately 100 words should introduce the main topic and key points and be able to stand alone. (ASIRT newsletters generally include the first paragraph or two of an article with a link to “Read more” for access to the complete article.) 

• Photos and/or graphics are encouraged. Attach photos or graphics separately or include links to files. The preferred format for photos and graphics is jpg or png.
